Enhancing both appearance and function of the nose — Rhinoplasty, often called a “nose job,” is one of the most common facial plastic surgeries. It can be performed for cosmetic reasons, functional improvements to breathing, or both. In many cases, cosmetic reshaping is combined with functional nasal surgery such as septoplasty and/or turbinate reduction to optimize both form and function.
Common Reasons for Rhinoplasty
- Straightening a crooked nose
- Reducing a nasal hump
- Refining a rounded or drooping nasal tip
- Narrowing a wide nose or nostrils
- Lengthening or shortening the nose for facial balance
- Improving breathing by correcting structural problems such as a deviated septum or collapsed nasal valves

Surgical Approach
Rhinoplasty is performed either via an open (small incision across the columella) or closed (incisions entirely inside the nose) approach, depending on your goals and anatomy. The procedure typically involves sculpting bone and cartilage, repositioning tissue, and adding support where needed through cartilage grafts. Surgery is done under general anesthesia and typically takes 2–4 hours.
Recovery Timeline
- Day 6-7: Splint removal and suture removal (if present)
- 1–2 Weeks: Return to work or social activities
- 3–6 Months: Most swelling resolves
- 1 Year: Final results visible
Facial Balance & Chin Augmentation
Because profile harmony depends on the proportion between the nose, chin, and jawline, rhinoplasty is sometimes combined with chin augmentation. This can be done during the same surgery to enhance facial profile balance, particularly if a small or recessed chin is present.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
For patients who are not ready for surgery, subtle reshaping of the nose can be achieved with injectable fillers in what is often called a non-surgical rhinoplasty. While the results are temporary and cannot improve breathing, this option can camouflage small humps, refine the tip, or improve symmetry without downtime. If you’re curious whether this might be right for you, we can review it during your consultation.
